Note that the Russian goalkeeper “Florida Panthers” Sergei Bobrovsky after the results of the duel with “Carolina” was recognized as the first star.
The goalkeeper saved all 32 shots on goal and helped his club succeed – 1:0.
Bobrovsky became the second on the list of the oldest goaltenders who managed to get their first career shutout in the NHL playoffs.
The Russian scored his first career shutout in the NHL playoffs at the age of 34 years and 244 days. The record belongs to former American goalkeeper Tim Thomas – 35 years 340 days.
Sergey Bobrovsky’s team only has one step left to reach the Stanley Cup final
After the game, in an interview with reporters, Florida Flaps forward Sam Bennett highlighted the game of the Russian goalkeeper:
“He’s been amazing throughout the playoffs. It is really impressive. His game gives our team much more confidence. It’s more fun to play when you have a goalie who fights like that and does whatever.
Thus, “Florida” leads a series of up to four victories with a score of 3:0. The next game of the confrontation is scheduled for May 25.
In another pair of “Vegas Golden Knights” in overtime they beat the “Dallas Stars” in the second game of the NHL playoff semifinal series – 3:2.
Chandler Stevenson scored the game-winning goal. Forward Ivan Barbashev made an assist.
Forward Evgeny Dadonov scored an assist.
Vegas leads the series 2-0.
Meanwhile, the ice hockey federation summed up the results of the season and a series of exhibition matches of the “Russia 25” team.
This is what Pavel Bure, the FHR’s special representative for international affairs, had to say:
– The hockey season in Russia showed that, despite all the difficulties, our hockey continues to develop. New young stars have appeared in the KHL clubs, the attendance has grown, the Gagarin Cup has turned out to be the most spectacular and exciting.
It is especially gratifying that, in the absence of international matches, the Russian national team continues to exist and delight fans across the country. The Russia 25 project can definitely be called successful. We saw that young people are ready to selflessly fight for the country, for the flag and for our fans, who welcomed the team to a sold-out crowd in Chelyabinsk, Krasnoyarsk and Tula.
For his part, Roman Rotenberg, first vice president of the FHR and head coach of the Russia 25 team, evaluated the season as follows:
– All the guys who played for “Russia 25” are real heroes who, at the first call, responded to the invitation of our headquarters. All of them had the longest and most difficult season of their careers, many played against injuries as a backdrop, but they had a good time on this tour. Congratulations to all the boys for a good game. There’s no question about dedication to anyone, and late-season fatigue is understandable. The intensity of the sport, the high level of hockey, the damage to our boys is evidence that everything was as serious as possible. Winning the Victory Cup is an excellent reward for hockey players for a job well done.
I think that nobody has any doubts about whether this team is necessary in the current situation. We saw crowded stands in Chelyabinsk, Krasnoyarsk, Tula, we saw the happy eyes of the people, whole families came to the matches. That’s why we play hockey, people from the regions should watch their team. Thanks also to Minsk and Astana for their hospitality! We are very pleased with the reaction and interest in the national team: the total audience of “Russia 25” reached 130 million people, 7.5 million watched the broadcast of our matches. It was felt that team games excite people more than World Cup matches, and just because of the emotions we received on this tour, it was worth it to reunite the team after a difficult season.
