For more than a century, law enforcement specialist canine handlers have been selflessly fulfilling the service and combat tasks assigned to them. During the Great Patriotic War, service dogs carried medical bags, coils of wire, ammunition and mines. They helped search for terrorists in the mountains and forests of the North Caucasus.

“Today, the cynological service of the Russian Guard is an important element in the structure of the troops of the National Guard of the Russian Federation. Cynologists are involved in maintaining public order and ensuring public safety, guarding important state facilities, examining explosive objects, and are engaged in the search for and arrest of those suspected of committing a crime, ”says the congratulatory message from the National Guard.

Only this year, in the course of a special military operation, the cynological divisions of the Russian Guard discovered more than 30 thousand explosive objects and more than 500 kg of explosives, as well as a large number of firearms and ammunition of various calibers.

Cynologists with patrol and search dogs participate in reconnaissance and search activities and special directed activities. Since the beginning of this year, with the participation of cynologists, more than 180 violators of public order have been arrested, of which 11 people are suspected of committing crimes.

The Russian Guard noted that in the entire history of the canine units of the department, about 400 servicemen received state awards, including 62 people for courage and heroism shown in the performance of service and combat missions during a special military operation, and two – junior sergeant Alexander Buzin and senior ensign Vasily Yuryev were posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Russia.
