“We really appreciate the way the Russian Museum is treated in Cuba, it is especially loved by Havana residents. The virtual branch of the Russian Museum was updated by us in the shortest possible time and now more than 345 digital programs on fine Russian Art from the 10th century to the 21st century will be available to Cubans, as well as electronic catalogs and virtual tours”, says Alla Manilova, general director of the Russian Museum.
The head of the museum also said that an important part of the multimedia films have been translated into Spanish, including special programs for children.
The Digital Media Library of the Russian Museum of Havana was complemented with albums and printed catalogues. 65 editions were transferred to the National Museum of Havana, as well as to the National Library of Cuba. José Martínez, part of the catalogs and books were sent to the parish Church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God.
“The development and maintenance of cultural alliances with Cuban museums is a new and promising direction in the activities of the Russian Museum, which will favorably influence the development of mutual understanding and respect between the peoples of Russia and Cuba,” Alla Manilova concluded.
The renewed virtual branch will present a new multimedia exhibition “Pages of the Russian Vanguard”, which will be the first digital exhibition of works from the collection of the Russian Museum in Cuba.
The multimedia exhibition is based on 60 works of the Russian avant-garde, each of which occupies a special place both in the collection of the Russian Museum and in Russian art of the first third of the 20th century. Multimedia technologies allowed the specialists of the Russian Museum to visualize the process of development of new forms of art in the works of world-famous masters: Kazimir Malevich, Wassily Kandinsky, Alexander Rodchenko, Vladimir Tatlin, Marc Chagall, Kuzma Petrov-Vodkin.
The exhibition will not do without musical accompaniment. Visitors will listen to works by Dmitry Shostakovich, Roman Ledenev, Moses Weinberg, arranged by the St. Petersburg musician Denis Kirillov.
“The spatial audiovisual installation created by means of multimedia makes it possible to figuratively present the characteristic features of the new pictorial language that was formed at the beginning of the 20th century and determined the development of art to this day,” emphasizes the Russian Museum.
The inauguration of the renewed Virtual Branch of the Russian Museum and the multimedia exhibition “Pages of the Russian Vanguard” will take place in Havana on July 14 during the IV Regional Youth Conference of Russian Compatriots from America and Australia, organized by the Russian Federation Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
