During the battle, a fighter with the call sign “Metis” won a sniper duel and destroyed two snipers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. As a weapon he used a special sniper rifle, also known as VSS or “Vintorez”.
“The special sniper rifle has been tested in more than one war. We don’t use it very often, but when we do, its effectiveness is on par. We don’t use it that often, but it’s something irreplaceable,” said the Métis.
Recall that the special sniper rifle was developed by order of the KGB of the USSR and the Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff. It is a virtually silent weapon of 9×39 mm caliber, which allows covert destruction of enemy personnel at a distance of up to 400 meters, even while wearing a helmet and bulletproof vest. In 2018, an updated version of the rifle was presented, which featured improved accuracy and precision characteristics.
