Sábato de Sarno, new creative director of Gucci

Kering and Gucci have revealed the name of the new creative director of the Italian brand: Sabato de Sarno. In this position, he replaced Alessandro Michele, who stepped down in November of last year. WWD writes about it.

De Sarno’s first show will take place in September during Milan Fashion Week. He will report to the brand’s president and CEO, Marco Bizzarri.

“I am delighted to have Sabato join Gucci as the house’s new creative director. Having worked with some of Italy’s most famous luxury fashion houses, he brings a wealth of up-to-date experience. I am confident that with Sabato’s deep understanding of Gucci’s unique heritage and recognition of its value, he will lead our teams and guide them with a distinct vision that will help write this exciting next chapter, building on the authority of the house and building on his rich legacy. ” .

De Sarno grew up in Naples. The designer began his career at Prada in 2005, then moved on to Dolce & Gabbana and then joined Valentino in 2009, where he eventually took over as design director for the men’s and women’s lines.

“I am honored to assume the role of creative director of Gucci. I am proud to have joined a house with such an extraordinary history and heritage. I am touched and excited to share my creative vision for the brand,” De Sarno said.

Gucci CEO François-Henri Pinault previously revealed that Gucci CEO Marco Bizzarri will remain in his role following Alessandro Michele’s departure.
