The current general director of Corporate Business and New Creation of El Corte Inglés, Santiago Bau, will assume the executive presidency of Grupo Viajes from July 2021.
Specifically, Bau will combine both positions within the company chaired by Marta Álvarez, as reported to Europa Press by group sources, who have stressed that the objective of this management change is to “reinforce the strategic plan and promote new businesses”. Santiago Bau began his career at El Corte Inglés in March 2022 after the creation of a new management structure in the company, with the constitution of a delegated executive committee.
Thus, he joined as CEO of Corporate Business and New Creation, while José María Folache González-Parrado, who joined at the same time, joined the management team. Schoenenberger, for his part, became CEO of the new company resulting from the merger between Viajes El Corte Inglés and Logitravel.
The objective of this company turned out to be to exceed 6,000 million euros in turnover within four years. Before the pandemic, sales reached more than 3,500 million euros in the 2019 financial year, with a workforce that exceeded 5,000 people and more than 500 points of sale around the world.
