The Interior Ministry recorded 677,000 IT crimes in Russia in just seven months of this year. The damage is estimated at 91 billion rubles. The figure is not final: after all, together with latent crimes, this figure can reach 250 billion. Already this year, the damage to ordinary residents, clients of banks and telecom operators, could amount to about 300 billion rubles, said Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sberbank Stanislav Kuznetsov at the session “Cyberfraud: a new pandemic?”. The event was devoted to discussing the fight against IT-related fraud, kp.ru reports. – In our country there is no coordinating body that controls cybercrime. There are independent experts who collect this information and provide it. But it is not considered official. There is no single picture. The exchange of data between the Central Bank and the Ministry of Internal Affairs is insufficient. And it is necessary to unite with the operators. “Our steps are correct, but slow,” added Anton Sheikin, a member of the Committee of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on constitutional legislation and state building.
As Stanislav Kuznetsov, who acted as moderator of the session, pointed out, it is not enough to exchange information on cybercrime “manually”. It is necessary to implement automated processes:
– If any mobile operator detects a suspicious phone call or transaction, it must block it. Sber has already done this with telecom operators. I would like the banking sector to do it automatically and in real time,” Kuznetsov said.
Experts agreed that, despite the different methods of analysis, the level of cybercrime continues to grow.
– The boundaries have been erased. When we were preparing for the session, our colleagues suggested making a deepfake. This was done on an available resource in a few minutes. Today we have already moved to a remote format and cybercrime uses elements more and more often. The number of deepfakes we have registered has increased 30-fold in a year,” explained the deputy chairman of the board of directors of Sberbank.
– Frauds under the pretext of meeting a manager, marriage scams and gambling. The schemes have a certain universality and are found all over the world. We came to the conclusion that the phenomenon can be compared to a pandemic,” concluded the guest of the session Li Long, Chairman of the Committee on Trade Work with CIS Countries of the China-Europe Association for Technical and Economic Cooperation.
