In the Vologda region, schools from all municipalities, as well as students from secondary vocational educational institutions took part in the last stage of the “Numbers Lesson” on the topic “Cybersecurity of the Future”. 170 educational organizations and more than 19 thousand schoolchildren participated in the lesson. These indicators demonstrate the great interest of the younger generation in the practical development of information technologies. “Number Lessons” is a good addition to standard school lessons and a convenient format that allows you to clearly explain any, even the most complex topic, even to first graders.

“It is important that lesson topics and discussion topics are always relevant, taken from real life,” confirms Olga Ignatyuk, deputy director of educational work at the Rostilovsky school. Schoolchildren watched an educational video conference and completed an interactive simulator, which helped them consolidate their knowledge about cyberattacks and personal data protection in practice.

There are many examples of this type. One of them is quoted by the newspaper “Vologda RF”. Recently, a “Number Lesson” was held at School No. 5 for ninth grade students. The children were told about digital professions, shown a video about the “tester” specialty and allowed to train on simulators. “The lesson was certainly useful for the children,” computer science teacher Denis Chernyaev shares his impressions. “After all, at school we pay more attention to programming. And today they learned about a new profession, tried themselves as testers. And some even coped with a practical test task. “

Step into the future

Schoolchildren from the Tula region were also able to immerse themselves in the metaverse and learn more about digital technologies. During the lesson, students took an online journey 26 years into the future. And they learned what cyber threats could await them in the future and which ones are relevant now.

The computer science professor talked about various schemes used by scammers on the Internet. For example, about ransomware, hidden malicious links through which pirated programs can be installed on the device.

Today, every third student uses not only a smartphone and tablet, but also wearable devices: smart watches and fitness bracelets. Many people have at least one of these devices at home, such as a smart speaker, smart scale, or robot vacuum cleaner. There is no doubt that the number of all types of devices connected to the Internet will only grow, as will the number of various threats. But this does not mean that you should give up new and convenient technologies. You just have to use them wisely.

Schoolchildren were able to consolidate their knowledge by training on three simulators with exciting tasks of varying complexity, for primary, secondary and high school students. Younger students were asked to protect a smart home, others were asked to talk about wearable devices, and older students were asked to save a smart city.

The “Numbers Lesson” helped children come to an important conclusion: no matter how smart technology is, you need to be able to protect your personal devices.

In an interview with the Tula News newspaper, Yaroslav Rakov, Minister of Information, Communications and Open Governance of the Tula Region, highlighted another important role of the “Lesson in Numbers” project: it helps students make important decisions in life, Determine your place in the sun and see the prospects for your development. “After all, they not only become familiar with new scientific directions, but also with IT specialties, which they can use as a basis for their future profession,” the minister clarified.

Moscow schoolchildren are also actively involved in the all-Russian educational project “Number Lesson”. In January alone, young Muscovites completed training tasks almost 49 thousand times.

“The Internet is not just an application for our lives. It is a full-fledged space for work, education, education and entertainment for children and adults,” said Mikhail Silantiev, acting director of the Institute for the Development of Specialized Education at the University from Moscow. Moscow City Pedagogical University “Be able to behave safely in “It is equally important to cross the street or use household appliances correctly. Ignorance of the basic rules can have dire consequences. The “Numbers Lesson” project helps children learn these rules from an early age.”

The newspaper “Tambov Life” also spoke out on the same issue. He recalled that the Rostelecom company recently opened courses on digital etiquette and cybersecurity for teenagers in Tambov. The free course “Digital Education”, intended for schoolchildren from grades 5 to 11, will help teenagers understand the peculiarities of communication on the Internet and increase their level of digital literacy.

The Cybersecurity section consists of three lessons in which students learn to recognize the logic of scammers, types of fraud, and password security. The second section of four lessons examines the nuances of digital etiquette when communicating over the phone, instant messaging, and social media, as well as in public places.

Bringing young people closer to digital technologies is a priority of the national project “Digital Economy”, with the support of which the “Digital Lesson” is carried out. The national project aims to develop digital skills among schoolchildren and early career guidance. The national project also trains younger generations in the free programming courses “Code of the Future” and “Digital Department”, open in 119 universities throughout the country.
