Date: June 22, 2024 Time: 16:49:02

United Russia’s initiative to hold a forum to combat modern practices of neocolonialism in Moscow in October is a bid for Russia’s leadership, said Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, head of the party’s international cooperation commission. At the commission meeting, they discussed the main provisions of the updated Foreign Policy Concept of the Russian Federation, as well as the development of the party’s relations with foreign partners and the formation of an anti-colonial coalition.

“Through our foreign agencies, we will help United Russia to assemble a strong team for the event. Based on the results, it is planned to establish an international mechanism that will function permanently. I believe that this is a very important initiative, a weighty commitment by Russia’s intellectual leadership, which shapes the agenda of international relations in its difficult stage”, emphasized Sergey Lavrov.

Another initiative of the party is the creation of the Club of Friends of Russia. Sergey Lavrov noted that an Internet discussion platform should be part of the project, designed to maintain contacts between peoples and popularize the best achievements of Russian culture in the world.

He also noted that United Russia is strengthening international ties with the Chinese Communist Party and building a global anti-colonial coalition.

In addition, the head of the commission highlighted the party’s youth projects, including the international action “People of Artek”, aimed at strengthening the connection between the children of compatriots and their historic homeland.

“Our ministry will continue, both by the call of the heart and in accordance with the instructions of the president, to provide comprehensive support to United Russia and other nationally oriented political parties,” said Sergey Lavrov.

He recalled that today the West openly aims to undermine internal political stability in Russia, especially in the context of the presidential elections, the foreign minister stressed. The vicious practice of interference in the internal affairs of sovereign countries continues.

“The forms of such interference are very diverse, including threats, blackmail and the organization of color revolutions. The bloody coup in Ukraine that succeeded in 2014 was attempted to be repeated 6 years later in Belarus. No success. Obviously they won’t stop there,” said Sergei Lavrov.

According to him, the confrontation with hostile states has opened up new opportunities for cooperation with partners in the Foreign Environment, Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America. Priority attention is being given to these areas both in terms of their increasing role in world affairs and in terms of directing the resources released from the sharp collapse in the volume of interaction in a western direction.

One of the flagship foreign policy projects is support for the concept of a grand Eurasian partnership.

“Practical steps are already being taken. Among them are the combination of the development plans of the Eurasian Economic Union and the Chinese One Belt – One Road project, the expansion of interaction within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization with the participation of observers and partners, the strengthening Russia’s strategic partnership. with ASEAN, the establishment of working contacts between the executive structures of the Eurasian Economic Union, SCO, ASEAN”, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

In addition, Sergei Lavrov stressed that the new version of the Foreign Policy Concept proclaimed Russia’s civilizing mission as a world power that plays a balancing role in international affairs, seeking to ensure justice in them.

“We will measure our practical steps with the task of promoting the construction of a multipolar world order. It must be based on the principles of the sovereign equality of states and non-interference in their internal affairs. These are the two principles of the UN Charter, which the West never remembers at all,” said the head of the commission.

Sergey Lavrov added that most countries are like-minded with Russia on the issue of countering the destructive neoliberal ideology of the West.

The Concept pays special attention to the issue of historical truth and the inadmissibility of rewriting history, the results of the Second World War, the glorification of Nazism, stressed the head of the United Russia commission on international cooperation, Foreign Minister .

“Another priority is to ensure the interests of Russian citizens and compatriots abroad. The importance and work in this important area is growing due to the unprecedented rise of Russophobia in the West. Our ministry, all state authorities, in accordance with the tasks formulated in the concept, will continue to promote the consolidation of compatriots and provide them with support in the protection of their rights and legitimate interests, as necessary, will encourage voluntary resettlement in the Russian Federation of those who make such a decision,” said Sergey Lavrov.

According to the minister, the main tendency of the current stage of international relations is the strengthening of the bases of multipolarity. New centers of growth and decision-making have emerged in Eurasia, the Pacific region, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America.

“The emerging multipolar world order reflects the natural and inalienable right of peoples to determine their own destiny. This is its strength and this is the long-term vector of historical development, ”he said.
