Sergei Lukyanenko is perhaps the most famous contemporary Russian science fiction writer. KP.RU decided to call the author of “Patrols” and ask him when to expect the continuation of the sensational series.

– What are your creative plans now?

– Things are going. Several interesting projects will now be released, which I hope will be announced publicly soon. I can’t tell you much, but they will be new works in both literature and cinema.

However, I will say it for sure: you will hear about the “Patrols” this year! I plan to return to this series in the spring. I hope everything can be finished on time. And now I am going to the city of Korolev, where we have the first major literary workshop, for which we have gathered 36 science fiction writers from all over Russia. There we will work for a week, three authors who will give master classes. It will be a great and, I hope, a useful event that will allow us to form “positive fiction”, to find glimpses of something good in the future.

– Do you think that the events in Ukraine will somehow be reflected in Russian science fiction?

– On the topic of relations between Russia and Ukraine, I gave forecasts 25 years ago. Then she perceived herself with a smile, but I saw how everything matured. Regarding the NWO itself, I think, of course, something will be said, but such events do not like texts written “in pursuit”. Even if we remember the Great Patriotic War, the main layer of our military literature appeared already in the 1950s and 1970s, and it was written mainly by those who were directly involved in what was happening. So, in particular, our “lieutenant’s prose” appeared.

Of course, such global and tragic events in Ukraine will be the subject of discussion in literature, including science fiction, for a long time. And personally, I take current events into account to update the latest book of Watches, taking into account what is happening in Ukraine.
