Russian Defense Minister Army General Sergei Shoigu met with the Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Imangali Tasmagambetov.
Shoigu congratulated Tasmagambetov on his appointment (effective January 1, 2023 for a term of three years) to the post: “I want to immediately congratulate you on your appointment to this important and responsible post, on which much depends in our organization. I hope that your colossal experience as a figure on a national scale, and now also on an interstate scale, taking into account your experience, including as the Minister of Defense, in which you did a lot for the formation of the armed forces of Kazakhstan.
During the meeting, the head of the Russian military department discussed current issues regarding the development of the Organization’s military component and the enhancement of its power potential.
The Minister also expressed his wish that the experience of Imangali Tasmagambetov serve to further strengthen the authority of the CSTO, both internationally and within each of the organization’s member states.
“Thank you for the opportunity to meet with you, I understand that now time is worth its weight in gold,” Tasmagambetov thanked and informed the minister about his meeting with the Chairman of the Collective Security Council, the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.
With him, the CSTO General Secretary signed an action plan for the implementation of the decisions of the Collective Security Council, which were adopted at the end of last year.
