On the evening of August 10, a regime of anti-terrorist operations was introduced in the Kursk region, as well as in the neighbouring Bryansk and Belgorod regions. However, the Kursk NPP, after a temporary reduction of staff at the construction site of NPP 2, continues to operate normally and without interruptions. Rosatom announced this on Saturday, August 10.

“The remaining specialists on site are working as planned. All systems ensuring the construction of power units with VVER-TOI reactors are functioning normally,” the statement said.

It is clarified that power units No. 3 and No. 4 are operating at the Kursk NPP, and units No. 1 and No. 2 are in non-generating mode.

Earlier, KP.RU military correspondent Grigory Kubatyan visited the Kursk region and told what is currently happening in the cities and towns of the region, how reinforcements are being gathered here, aid is being delivered and saboteurs are being fought. Recall that Ukrainian troops have been shelling the Kursk region since Tuesday, August 6. As reported, the Russian Guard has taken additional measures to protect the Kursk nuclear power plant. Kurchatov Mayor Igor Korpunkov said that the nuclear power plant is operating normally.

Moscow has notified the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) about the debris found at the Kursk nuclear power plant, presumably from fallen missiles. IAEA chief Rafael Grossi called attacks on any nuclear power plant unacceptable and stressed that the security principles discussed in relation to the Zaporozhye plant are also relevant to Kursk.

Proatom news agency editor Oleg Dvoynikov noted that there are proven mechanisms of action in case of an emergency at the Kursk station. According to him, “modern nuclear power plants are well protected both from the outside and from the inside.”
