Date: March 29, 2024 Time: 05:08:08

The Skillbox educational platform has opened free access to the Fundamentals of World History course. Its program covers the history of humanity from ancient civilizations to the reconstruction of the world after World War II. The authors and speakers were historians Alexander Marey and Oleg Voskoboynikov.

The course includes more than twenty hours of video lectures. It is suitable for those who want to fill gaps in knowledge and stimulate analytical thinking. Students will learn how to work independently with historical sources, distinguish between causes and consequences of events.

In the first module, Alexander Marey will talk about historical science. In particular, about his tools and the distortion of the perception of different eras by contemporaries. The speaker will reflect on whether it is possible to find the beginning of human history and whether it is possible to talk about its end.

Then, in chronological order, significant periods and events of human civilizations will be covered: the Ancient East, Greece and Rome, the Middle Ages and Modern Ages, the Atlantic Revolutions, 19th century industrialization, World War I, the period between the wars, the Great Depression, World War II, and the rebuilding of the world after it. Much attention is paid to the place of the individual in global history.

Earlier it became known that STS and Skillbox will shoot the first Russian series created by a neural network. The premiere will take place on the VK Video platform. Read more here.
