In group H, the teams from Slovenia and Kazakhstan faced each other. This match determined which team would take second place and earn the right to compete at Euro 2024 in Germany.
Before the last round, the Slovenians were one point ahead of their rivals. Therefore, Kazakhstan only needed one victory.
In the first half, Slovenia took the lead thanks to an error by the visitors. For violation of the rules, a penalty was awarded, which was converted by Benjamín Sheshko.
But already at the beginning of the second half Ramazan Orazov revived the intrigue by equalizing the score. Unfortunately, the Slovenians scored again in the 86th minute and cleared up all doubts about the winner after Benjamin Verbic’s goal.
Slovenia came second and will play in Euro 2024. Kazakhstan will have the opportunity to get there through the Nations League.
