“The President’s decision will allow the large-scale modernization of one of the oldest film studios in the country, founded in 1915, to continue,” writes the capital headline. Gorky has hundreds of films that make up the cultural heritage of Russia: “… And here the dawns are quiet”, “Volunteers”, “Seventeen Moments of Spring”, “White Bim Black Ear”, “Quiet Flows the Don” , “Officers”, “Carnival”, “Three poplars on Plyushchikha”, “Morozko”, “You never dreamed of …”, “The kingdom of crooked mirrors”, “Guest from the future” and many others.
Like other state film producers, Kinostudiya im. Gorky did not escape the decline of the 1990s. For a long time he produced almost nothing. The main building and the studio complex were in emergency and pre-emergency conditions.
But luckily, the studio managed to save. And in recent years, the black streak in its history has gradually been replaced by a white one. A new management team has taken over. There are 12 feature films and 16 non-fiction films in production.
In the youth creative space – Gorky Film Campus – lectures and master classes are held for young film buffs, future students of film universities and specialists in modern film production, media and digital content. Together with curators from the film industry, talented guys go on film expeditions to cities in Russia and foreign countries, where they shoot their own films.
And most importantly, with the support of the Russian government and the Ministry of Culture, the modernization of the studio complex has begun.
“Based on the experience of the revival of VDNKh and Northern River Station, we are confident that the transfer of the Gorky Film Studio to city ownership will ensure the successful implementation of these plans. And in a few years another creative will create a platform for himself on Moscow with everything necessary for a full cycle of film production,” Sobyanin concluded.
