Social Security loses 3,365 foreign affiliates after five months of promotions

Social Security registered an average of 3,365 fewer foreign affiliates in the month of July, which represents a decrease of 0.1% over the previous month. In total, this last month has closed with 2,695,240 non-national workers contributing to the system.

This drop in the number of affiliates represents a change in trend, since in the five months prior to July the number of employed foreigners has chained increases, reaching its maximum figure in June with 2,698,604 registered immigrants.

The Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migrations has also published the figures for registered foreigners broken down by gender, and this July there was a slightly higher percentage of contributing immigrant men than women. Specifically, 55.6% of those enrolled were men, while 44.4% were women.

Taking into account the seasonality of some jobs at this time of year and subtracting them from the calculation, Social Security registered 7,308 more foreign contributors in July. Thus, in seasonally adjusted terms, employed immigrants in Spain reach 2,614,921, some 425,500 above the figures prior to the pandemic.
