Sotheby’s auction house is selling the iconic Air Jordan sneakers worn by American basketball player Michael Jordan. Called The Dynasty Collection, the set includes six pairs of Nike Air Jordans worn by Jordan during six championship games with the Chicago Bulls in the 1990s.
According to Hypebeast, the collection includes pairs of the 1991 Air Jordan 6, 1992 Air Jordan 7, 1993 Air Jordan 8, 1996 Air Jordan 11, 1997 Air Jordan 12, and the Air Jordan 14 (1998).
Sotheby’s auction house said in a statement that the shoe is “the most valuable and significant collection of Air Jordan sneakers to ever come to market.” Bram Wachter, head of contemporary streetwear and collectibles, compared the set to the “Mona Lisa of sneakers and sports memorabilia”.
The auction house presents these six pairs of Air Jordan sneakers in Dubai. Sotheby’s has yet to reveal the official cost of the set, but it is expected to be in the millions. It is noted that the house sells slippers, and does not put them up for auction.
Earlier, Sotheby’s held an auction featuring 23 pairs of the Notorious BIG x Air Jordan 13 sneakers. They were released last year in honor of the 50th anniversary of the American rapper, whose real name is Christopher Wallace.
