Soviet and Russian composer Oleg Galakhov dies – Rossiyskaya Gazeta

Oleg Galakhov was born on August 10, 1945 in Gorlovka. He graduated from the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow. His mentors were Rodion Shchedrin and Alfred Schnittke.

Galakhov is the author of works of various genres: oratorios and cantatas, concertos for orchestra, the New Garden Symphony, chamber music, vocal music and music for children, music for cinema and films for television.

In 1979, Oleg Galakhov, at that time still vice-president of the Moscow organization of the Union of Composers of the RSFSR, became one of the initiators of the Moscow Autumn Festival. Since then he has been their permanent leader.
