Spain will provide Brussels with all the details of the use of European funds Next Generation This is the message that, according to sources from the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the first vice president, Nadia Calviño, has conveyed to the members of the European Parliament delegation that is in in Spain until Wednesday to examine how the plan is being implemented.
In the meeting, which according to the same sources has been marked by a “constructive” tone in line with the dialogue process that has been held since the beginning of the process, the Executive has reported on the information requested on the tenders and calls of grants financed by the funds and on the execution of the Recovery Plan. This is centralized information on the plan’s own website, as well as in the National Grants Database, in the Public Sector Contracting Platform or in the bulletins of the Autonomous Communities, among other sources.
Calviño has reported on the rhythm in the use of the program’s investments, with more than 23,300 million euros in calls for aid and tenders resolved at the end of 2022, which are already financing more than 190,000 investment projects and administrations of all the territories. He has also specified “the important process of co-governance deployed with the Autonomous Communities, as Spain is a decentralized country”, add the same sources. So far, the regional governments will directly manage more than 20,600 million allocated euros.
From the department headed by Calviño, they stress that the autonomies have contributed to the design of the Plan. Parliament launched a Commission on Reconstruction and since then numerous letters and exchanges of information have been exchanged to incorporate its proposals. This is evidenced by the integrated projects within the 4 strategic axes and the approval of up to 12 Strategic Projects (PERTE). The Government has also insisted to the European Parliament delegation that since the approval of the plan in July 2021 there have been 139 Sectoral Conferences. In them, it has been the autonomies themselves that have agreed on the distribution criteria and have also made contributions to design the programs themselves.
