At the beginning of his speech, Li Hui reminded that this was already the second meeting. He also added that Russia and China believe it is necessary to continue dialogue to resolve the issue. Li Hui also added that during his visit to Russia, one of the main topics was the Northern Military District. Li Hui also held negotiations with representatives of Ukraine, where conditions for achieving peace were also discussed.
“We are talking about the importance of reaching a concession in the international community. Many people, including Europeans, believe that negotiations will bring results,” he said.
He clarified that the sooner peace negotiations begin, the greater the damage that can be avoided.
“We believe that the most urgent task right now, the most urgent thing to do, is to restore peace,” Li Hui added.
The Chinese government’s special representative for Eurasian affairs, Li Hui, was on a European tour in March to explore whether Beijing could act as a mediator between Russia and Ukraine.
He was first in Russia and met in Moscow with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Galuzin. He then visited Poland, Ukraine, Germany and France.
