Pilot Vladimir Sheshenin in the Vesta Sport pickup accelerated to 175,472 km/h. This was the best result among mass-produced cars with an engine capacity of up to 2.0 liters in the entire history of the Baikal Mile.
In addition, Kirill Ladygin at the wheel of the Granta Sport reached 163.606 km/h – these are the best figures in the class of stock cars with engines up to 1.6 liters in the “Baikal Mile” Book of Records.
The main sports classification of the festival is the task of driving the so-called “Baikal Mile” in order to achieve maximum speed at the finish line. The length of this mile is equal to the depth of Lake Baikal at its deepest point and is 1642 meters.
According to preliminary information, the Vesta Sport pickup was equipped with a 1.8-liter engine with a capacity of 145 horsepower. And Granta Sport, in turn, could get a 120-horsepower 1.6-liter 16-valve engine.
On March 3, we recall, the mass production of the new Lada Vesta began in Togliatti. Initially, the model will be assembled only with an 8-valve VAZ-11182 engine with a power of 90 hp, which works in conjunction with the mechanics. In May, a 106-horsepower, 16-valve engine will return to the range.
