After a huge scandal at the Oscars, where Will Smith came on stage and slapped comedian Chris Rock resoundingly over a joke about his wife, the Hancock star went through a difficult path of correction: He left the American Film Academy, lost various roles, received a ten-year ban from attending the Oscars, taking anger management courses, repenting, etc.
But it turns out that Chris Rock all this time was also worried. In the first episode of the comedy show “Chris Rock: Selective Outrage,” which Netflix dropped live, the comedian literally burst into revelations.
– Everyone knows, everyone, ***** (damn), you know, I was slapped like a year ago! he remembered. “I got slapped at the fucking Oscars… and people were like, ‘Did that hurt?’ It still hurts! “Summertime” is ringing in my ears, fuck the drums please! But I’m not a victim, baby, you’ll never see me cry on Oprah or Gail, you’ll never see it, it’ll never happen. I took that punch like Manny Pacquiao.
Rock joked that Will Smith is a big guy who often shoots in the nude. While Chris, 58, plays very different roles. And he’s so embarrassed to get naked in front of the camera that even if he has open-heart surgery in the frame, he’ll wear a sweater.
“Will Smith played Muhammad Ali,” Rock reminded him. Do you think I auditioned for this role? He played Muhammad Ali, I played Pooky in New Jack City! I played corn in the comedy Ways of Teng. Even in the animation, this mom is bigger, I’m a zebra and he’s a shark! (actually, Jada Pinkett-Smith voiced the hippo, while Chris Rock voiced the zebra – Auth.). But Will Smith practices selective outrage because everyone knows what the hell happened, everyone knows I had nothing to do with this shit! For those of you who don’t know Will Smith, his wife had sex with her son’s friend. Normally I wouldn’t talk about this shit, but for some reason it got posted online. I have no idea why two talented people would do such a bad thing.
Rock then hit Smith’s wife hard again, using profanity, ending with a confession of utter disappointment from the once-sympathetic artist.
“I loved Will Smith, I loved Will Smith my whole life, I saw him at the Run DMC opening at the Nassau Coliseum, they did a whole new funk,” Chris Rock recalled. “He’s made some great movies, I’ve been a fan of Will Smith my whole life and now I’m watching Deliverance (a drama in which the actor played a runaway black slave – Auth.) only to see him flogged. “Hit him again! Hit him again! You missed it!” Now a lot of people say, “Chris, why didn’t you do something about it?” Because I have parents, because I grew up. And do you know what my parents taught me? “Don’t fight in front of the whites!”
