From January 1, MOT in Russia will be more expensive. Why? A brief digression into history is needed here.
The cost of passing ITV in Russia has always been a penny. And not all cars needed it: Mandatory inspection for cars was canceled earlier this year, leaving a couple of exceptions:
– If you bought a car with more than four years, you must pass the ITV. Also, an annual MOT is mandatory for cars engaged in commercial passenger transportation (for example, taxis, – Ed.), – says auto expert Andrey Lomanov.
According to experts, mandatory maintenance was largely canceled due to old equipment at inspection stations. As they say, he even saw Tsar Pea, so it was impossible to objectively assess the state of modern machines on it.
Maintenance companies have recently started buying new equipment. It’s not cheap and I’d like to get it back quickly. That is why it was decided to raise the price of the ITV. It is regulated by the Federal Antimonopoly Service. By order of the Federal Antimonopoly Service, the updated tariffs in the regions had to be approved by December 20. The minimum bar is 913 rubles (previously it was less than 400 rubles, so the fees will increase by an average of 57%). The approved minimum for motorcycles is 321 rubles, for buses – 1563, for trucks – 999 rubles.
And many regions have raised the fee to the minimum allowed (see “Just numbers”). But in some places, for example, in the Orel and Khakassia region, the price has doubled. And the most expensive MOT will be in St. Petersburg – 1500 rubles for a passenger car.
Many maintenance companies are sure that even at that price it is difficult to achieve profitability.
– That is why the maintenance fee will continue to grow, this is not the limit, – Andrey Lomanov is sure. – In addition, technical inspection rates have not been revised for many years. Will this affect taxi and minibus fares? Calculate for yourself: plus 500 rubles at the rate of one car per year, the company will spend on passing the MOT. In total, this is a small fraction. I don’t think carriers will raise rates for this.
