State Duma deputy Sheremet: the UN has lost the meaning of existence in its current format KXan 36 Daily News

Earlier, the UN General Assembly during the special session on Ukraine adopted an anti-Russian resolution “On the principles of a just world.” The document was supported by 141 countries, 7 against, 32 more delegations abstained. At the same time, the Belarusian amendments on the convening of negotiations and the ban on the supply of weapons to kyiv were rejected.

According to Sheremet, the UN General Assembly, while expressing claims against Russia, obstinately ignores the American intervention and the coup in Ukraine, the destruction of the civilian population in Donbass and other crimes of the Kiev authorities.

The deputy recalled that the UN, as an international institution, is obliged to resolve any contradiction in “this boiling world.” However, the organization has survived and has become an instrument of influence in Washington. “The United States is trying to solve its geopolitical tasks and interests with the help of the UN, which means that the whole sense of further existence is lost in such a one-sided format,” the deputy said.

He stressed that the UN has ceased to fulfill the mission of an independent peacekeeping platform, has discredited itself with a unilateral policy and has lost its authority in the face of the entire healthy international community. The world needs a new mechanism and a peacekeeping platform, where all geopolitical issues are resolved in an equal and fair manner, says the deputy.
