“Continuous heavy rains are hampering the harvesting campaign. This affects not only the timing of the harvest, but also the qualitative and quantitative indicators of the harvest. The Ministry, together with agricultural producers, is trying to use all possible resources to minimize losses. The preparation of documents on the introduction of the emergency regime is expected to be completed this week,” said Deputy Chairman of the regional government, Minister of Agriculture of the region Andrei Shindelov.
According to the Western Siberian Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring Administration, in several areas, waterlogging of the soil due to heavy rainfall was observed. The condition of the soil at a depth of up to 12 centimeters, according to a visual assessment of the moisture content, is assessed as sticky or fluid. After the introduction of the emergency regime, the regional authorities will contact the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation with a proposal to change the target indicators for 2024.
In addition, the Department of Agriculture will take measures to strengthen the range of agricultural machinery available to agricultural companies so that field work is carried out as efficiently as possible. Companies that have entered into emergency crop insurance contracts will be able to submit applications for insurance payment.
