Synthpop singer Stereopolina released a video for the song “I’m Not Myself”. The composition became the official soundtrack for the second season of the Kinopoisk Food Block TV series.
The track was born from the composition “The Last Date” – Stereopolina left the music and wrote new words, reflecting the experiences of maturing characters.
In the clip, Stereopolyna herself appears in the light of neon lamps. Also included in the music video are images of the main characters of “Pishcheblok” – Valerka Lagunov, Anastasiyka, Leva Khlopov and other characters. The images with blue and scarlet flashes also refer to the style of the series.
“I wrote the text of the song on behalf of Valerka, so in the video I am like an outside observer, and everything that I sing happens to the main character of the series. Throughout the video sequence we keep the viewer on edge: will they bite me? Will I become a vampire? Or maybe the artists are not vampires at all, but trees in a gloomy forest? Or maybe I’m a vampire from the start? reflects the singer.
The Kazan-born interpreter is well-versed in film—her favorite directors include David Lynch, Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Aki Kaurismaki, and Krzysztof Kieślowski—and she herself enjoys watching Food Block.
