Steven Spielberg plans to start making TV series

Date: April 16, 2024 Time: 17:57:18

American director Steven Spielberg has revealed that he plans to do TV series in the future. He shared this on the Smartless podcast, Variety writes.

Spielberg has worked on multi-episode projects in the past, but not as a director, but as a producer. For example, the miniseries “Band of Brothers”, which premiered on HBO. It was Meir of Easttown, in which Kate Winslet played a detective investigating a murder in her small town near Philadelphia, that made her think about filming the show.

“I have an interest in doing a feature-length series and one day I will do one,” Spielberg said. He added that if someone offered him a job at the Meir of Easttown, he would “do it.”

Spielberg also revealed that he wanted to make Lincoln a six-hour miniseries. But the director could not find enough funds.

“No one believed in that… I walked around the city and everyone rejected me. He was willing to make a deal with HBO to do that and increase the running time to six hours. Tony Kushner’s first draft was 550 pages, so he could have done it!” Spielberg said.

Lincoln was released in 2012 and grossed $275 million worldwide. The film received 12 Oscar nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director. The tape took the award for best performance and production design.

The trailer for Steven Spielberg’s new film, The Fabelmans, has just been released. In the video, the director reveals the secrets of his films. It also explains why Fabelmans is a special project for him.
