As Rolling Stone, which wrote about this, recalls, the relationship between Tyler and Holcomb was known in the 70s.

Another sex scandal in the American show business: this time, Julia Holcomb accused the leader of the Aerosmith group, Steven Tyler, of having had sex with her when she was only 16 years old. According to the victim, Tyler got her mother the chance to legalize her. guardianship, after which he began to live with her.
Holcomb states that he “did not have the strength to resist power, fame and money”. possessed by Aerosmith’s lead singer and that he “convinced her that they were in a romantic love relationship”. They met in 1973 in Portland, where the group gave a concert. Julia had just turned 16, Stephen was 25. He invited her to a hotel room, asked how old she was, asked why she walked alone all night and she told him that she had problems in the family. Well, so Tyler “carried out various criminal acts of a sexual nature.” And in the morning I took a taxi home.
But it didn’t end there. Tyler invited Julia to the band’s next concert in Seattle (this was fraught with difficulties: as a minor, she could not travel on planes from one state to another without being accompanied by her parents). And she then she fully met her mother and suggested that she take custody of the child. She convinced her mother that Julia would be better off with him than at home, she promised to provide her with a good school, health insurance, etc. Surprisingly, her mother agreed. But Tyler didn’t keep her promises regarding the school; instead, he traveled with a young girlfriend across the country, while she supplied him with alcohol and various substances. She soon became pregnant and miscarried at the insistence of her lover. There was a fire in the apartment where they were and Tyler said that Julia had swallowed smoke, the fetus did not have enough oxygen, so it was better to terminate the pregnancy for medical reasons. (The doctors, brought to the applicant’s aid, believe that there was no real threat to the child.) Julia refused, but Tyler said that if she didn’t have an abortion, he would stop supporting her financially. She soon returned to Portland, became a staunch Catholic, married, and forgot about her affair with the Aerosmith leader.
As Rolling Stone recalls, which wrote about it, the relationship between Tyler and Holcomb was known back in the gallant 70s: the girl is mentioned in an article published in Rolling Stone itself in 1976. And Tyler himself writes about her in his memories. The memoirs were published in 2011. Why did Holcomb take so long to sue? And just in the state of California not long ago the statute of limitations was abolished in relation to cases related to the sexual abuse of minors. And the so-called age of consent (that is, the age at which a person is considered old enough to knowingly have sex) in California is 18 years old. (However, in most US states it is 16 years old.)
