Tokayev confirmed that Kazakhstan’s position on this issue has not changed and, in his opinion, the only solution to the long-term conflict is the creation of a Palestinian state with its capital in East Jerusalem based on the formula “two states for two peoples.” . The head of the republic also drew attention to the difficult situation in Afghanistan. According to him, one of the strategic tasks at the current stage is Afghanistan’s active participation in interregional relations.

“Kazakhstan removed the Taliban regime from the terrorist list, based on the importance of developing trade and economic cooperation with modern Afghanistan and the understanding that this regime is a long-term factor,” Tokayev explained.

Underlining the particular importance of the coordinated position of the CSTO countries on this issue, he called for support of Kazakhstan’s initiative to create a UN Regional Center for Sustainable Development Goals for Central Asia and Afghanistan in Almaty.

In order to timely respond to modern challenges and threats, the Head of State proposed focusing the CSTO’s efforts on the most relevant statutory areas of work for the participating countries, reflected in the priorities of the Kazakh presidency. The next priority, the president called the high degree of readiness of the forces and means of the collective security system of the CSTO. He recalled that Kazakhstan, as President of the Organization, pays priority attention to joint measures to improve the operational and combat readiness of the command and control bodies and formations of the CSTO forces and means. “We are actively preparing for the CSTO exercises Indestructible Brotherhood-2024 and Skala-2024 on the territory of Kazakhstan in the fall of this year,” Tokayev added.

Tokayev also highlighted the active growth of trade between the CSTO countries. According to him, the volume of trade between Kazakhstan and Russia in 2023 amounted to 26 billion dollars, with Kyrgyzstan – 1 billion 571 million dollars, Tajikistan – 1 billion 130 million dollars and Belarus – 912 million Dollars.
