A 6-episode documentary series on theater has been released at Okko’s online cinema. The project “From Nizhny to Russia” tells how the theater was born and developed throughout the history of Russia and what role Nizhny Novgorod played in this.
“The science outreach project is designed for those who want to get to know the theater better. Together with experts, we are exploring the Nizhny Novgorod theater as an example of a unique cultural code, and we are also looking for answers to the questions: why do you need to go to performances, why does the theater look conservative to many, and what? What is the state of this art form today? – said the screenwriter and producer of the series “From Nizhny to Russia” Angelina Kulikova.
The series was shot by students of the production department of the Moscow Art Theater School together with young Nizhny Novgorod specialists in the field of film production. The experts of the project were the director Viktor Ryzhakov, actor of the Moscow Art Theater. Chekhov Artem Bystrov, theater historian Anatoly Smelyansky, economist Alexander Rubinstein, theater critic Olga Egoshina, producer of the Elshan Mamedov Independent Theater Project, director of the Nizhny Novgorod Comedy Theater Dmitry Konovalov, theater historian Nadezhda Efremova.
Recall that earlier in the Okko online cinema the second part of the film “Mikhail Gorshenev. The Legend of the King and the Jester. The film was released on the eve of the death of Mikhail Gorshenev and is dedicated to how the zong opera “Todd” was created.
