Sunak announces reform package to support small businesses

Date: September 13, 2024 Time: 09:03:22

Rishi Sunak, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, announced today, Monday, that his Government will launch a new package of economic reforms to support small businesses, help women entrepreneurs and reduce bureaucracy for small and medium-sized businesses.

In a speech at a conference held in the county of Warwickshire (England), the ‘Tory’ leader indicated, among other measures, that his Executive will allocate 60 million pounds (70 million euros) to create more learning places in companies. Sunak admitted the last few years have been “tough”, with the pandemic and war in Ukraine driving up energy bills and inflation.

“None of this is easy, it’s not easy for me, it’s not easy for any of you. But we really have put the worst behind us at the beginning of this year,” he said. The conservative leader recalled that “inflation has been reduced by more than half. Mortgage interest rates, energy bills have fallen, salaries are rising, consumer confidence, and business confidence are increasing.” .

Sunak said his Government will fully fund apprenticeships in small businesses from April 1, covering the full cost of training people under 21, reducing costs and burden on employers, and thus providing more opportunities for young people to start their careers.

A game of 79 million euros.

With an allocation of 60 million pounds (70 million euros) allocated to these apprenticeships, another 20,000 training places will be made possible, mainly for young people. “Having grown up in my mother’s pharmacy, I know first-hand how important small businesses are. Not just to the economy, but as drivers of innovation and aspiration, and as the key to building a society where hard work is always “is recognized and rewarded,” Sunak said in his speech.

Mr Sunak added: “Whether by breaking down barriers and red tape for small businesses, helping businesses recruit more young people into apprenticeships and skilled jobs or empowering women to start their own businesses, this Government will adhere to the plan and leave no stone unturned to make the UK the best place to do business.”

The Conservative leader, whose party aims to renew its mandate in a general election this year, also announced a new Women’s Task Force to unlock private investment, believing that for too long there has been a lack of funding in the creation of start-ups . led by women.
