Yesterday the premiere of the work “Duo” took place in Moscow, a dance duet by Diana Vishneva and Daria Pavlenko, which is based on the idea of duality, duality and variability of events. The costume designer was designer Svetlana Tegin.
For Svetlana, it was important to reflect the artists’ dedication to the service of ballet, where divine gift and creative pursuit are inextricably intertwined with pain, daily work and torn ligaments. In her performance you can see the transformation of images from closed and mysterious, like everything related to the private lives of famous dancers, to sensual and tender, emphasizing the beauty of movement in dance.
The designer used natural fabrics (silk, cotton and wool) combined with modern stretch materials for the swimsuits. When working on the costumes, Svetlana benefited from her experience in film, where, in addition to knowing how to sew a costume, she may need the ability to tear or “texture” it to obtain the desired effect.
“I have always dreamed of making ballet costumes, since I am passionate about it. For me, “Duo” is a dream project that combines ballet and opera. The images were born immediately after discussing the concept of the show, but the shape of the costumes was built during rehearsals. It was very important for me to follow the plasticity of the dance, to emphasize the beauty of each movement of Pavel Glukhov’s choreography. What we have created is, without a doubt, the result of joint creativity,” says Svetlana Tegin.
