Swarovski displayed a tiara it created for the 2023 Vienna Opera Ball, one of the oldest cultural events in Austria. The jewelry brand has been his partner for many years. WWD writes about it.
The design of the piece refers to the famous star-shaped jewels that belonged to the Austrian Empress Sissi, Elisabeth of Bavaria. The largest star is placed in the center of the tiara, surrounded by clear crystals. In total, the product is inlaid with 435 stones.
Swarovski’s creative director Giovanna Engelbert said she “wanted to create a piece that would capture the beauty of the association” with the Vienna Opera Ball. She added that “the design is rooted in Austrian heritage” and that the star was “a fascinating reminder to always believe in your hopes and dreams.”
The decoration will be worn by each of the 144 debutantes. The event will take place on February 16 at the historic Vienna State Opera. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, it did not take place for two years.
Founded in 1935, this social event is considered one of the oldest dances. Some 5,000 guests visit it every year, and thanks to television, its audience is much larger. The traditional dress code is white dresses and long white gloves.
Previously, Swarovski and Golden Goose presented a joint collection. Includes updated models of the Italian brand’s Super-Star sneakers and a skateboard. The white leather version with white suede stars was embellished with clear crystals.
