The Japanese artist Takashi Murakami presents his first solo exhibition in Dubai. He will complement the new Perrotin Gallery in the United Arab Emirates. Hypebeast writes about it.
The exhibition, organized in collaboration with ICD Brookfield Place, presents a wide range of paintings, sculptures and installations from Murakami’s latest research, including new works from his Murakami.Flowers series. The exhibition opens with a set of new iterations of Mister DOB, a Mickey Mouse-inspired figurine first introduced by the artist in 1993.
The NFT hybrid project was inspired by 1970s Japanese video game graphics. Murakami and his team centered each composition around the key number 108, associated with the Buddhist principle of bonno, or earthly temptations. Each flower was created using 108 backgrounds, 108 colors, and 108 fields.
Earlier, Hublot presented a new, already second watch, created in collaboration with the Japanese artist Takashi Murakami. The Classic Fusion Takashi Murakami Sapphire Rainbow reinvents its iconic element, the smiling flower.
