German book publisher Tashen will release a gift book set on the creation story of Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining. Along with them, the set includes materials with various reproductions, booklets and original illustrations. As reported on the official website, the set will tell about Kubrick’s genius and his findings as a director, as well as help restore the process of working in horror.
The authors of the project have collected hundreds of exclusive interviews with cast and crew members to rethink the meaning of The Shining more than 40 years after its premiere. The book will deal with recreating the interiors of the sinister Overlook Hotel, endless script editing, revolutionary use of a steadicam, a mysterious studio fire in the middle of filming, and countless takes to satisfy Kubrick’s perfectionism.
Headlines will see several hundred never-before-seen photographs, archival footage from the director, rare documents, letters, sketches, deleted scene reviews, and more. Written and edited by Oscar and Golden Globe winner Lee Unkrich. Together with him, film historian and writer Jonathan Rinzler brought the project to life, and Steven Spielberg wrote a foreword for readers.
The number of copies is limited. Only a thousand people will become owners of the gift set.
Previously, Gucci showed a campaign in the style of Stanley Kubrick movies. It was filmed by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. We talk about it in more detail here.
