The monument to Suvorov “was dismantled on the night of December 29,” such information appeared on the website of the Dumskaya online publication.
In parallel, work was underway to dismantle another monument – the Russian Empress Catherine II. On Wednesday morning, the square where the monument was erected was blocked. Residents were not allowed.
The monument to the Empress was erected in 1900. Recently, the monument has often become a target for vandals.
Recall that in 2015 Ukraine adopted a decommunization law, under which the names of more than 900 settlements and almost 50,000 streets were changed in eight years. Recently, the Kyiv regime began to actively fight everything related to Russia and the USSR. Throughout Ukraine, monuments are being demolished and streets are being renamed after Russian writers, artists, scientists and travelers.
