This was reported to TASS by a source close to the Russian Defense Ministry. The new division will be formed as part of the submarine forces of the Pacific Fleet. It will include not only special-purpose nuclear submarines “Belgorod” and “Khabarovsk”, but also other submarines.
The interlocutor added that the new special submarines will participate in solving the problem of strategic deterrence.
Until now, the Belgorod nuclear submarine has been the only carrier of super torpedoes. It was delivered to the Russian Navy on July 8, 2022. Belgorod is currently undergoing trial operation in the Northern Fleet. The “Khabarovsk” nuclear submarine is being completed in Sevmash.
