“On Thursday, law enforcement officers began to conduct a series of searches in seven Russian cities of the administrators of various telegram channels and former Moscow municipal deputies,” the source said.
In October, Ponomarev was placed on the wanted list. The reason was that the former deputy breached his commitment not to leave.
At the same time, on August 30, the Moscow Koptevsky Court arrested Ponomarev in absentia for discrediting the Russian military. According to the court decision, the former deputy is subject to arrest for two months from the moment of his arrest or extradition.
Ponomarev himself left Russia in 2014 after a criminal case was opened against him for embezzlement. He soon announced that he had received a temporary residence permit in Ukraine and moved there. In 2016, Ponomarev was stripped of his deputy status.
