As the agency points out, previous air defense formations were part of the Ground Forces and the Aerospace Forces. The task of the first was to escort and cover troops in the combat zone “on the ground”, the second – to cover important objects.
Earlier, retired British General Richard Barrons called strengthening the role of aviation a major trump card of the Russian Armed Forces in the Ukraine conflict. According to him, the use of aviation and missiles can cause great damage to the air defense of Ukraine.
