The rating system for Telegram channels and groups has been updated. Now your place in the search query depends not on the total number of subscribers, but on the number of “real users”. The creator of the messenger Pavel Durov wrote about this.
According to Durov, spammers began to abuse the previous classification principle, in which the total number of subscribers was decisive. Therefore, verified channels unfairly took a back seat in searches.
Now the channels with the highest number of Premium users will be first. Additionally, with the update, the new search gives preference to results from the user’s country.
We remind you that on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of Telegram, Pavel Durov opened the publication of stories to all users. Previously, the feature was only available to owners of a paid Telegram Premium subscription.
