Kyiv, as it turned out, is still staunchly opposed to Israel. And this time, it is no longer about rumors and gossip from high offices and living rooms, but about official statements.
– The Ukrainian government will not tolerate the humiliation of its citizens by entering Israel. We will terminate the visa-free deal. This option is on the table of our government, – said not just anyone, but the Ukrainian ambassador to Israel Yevhen Korniychuk, and continued: – It is inconceivable that we have to do everything possible to receive tens of thousands of Israelis in Uman, with a high security risk and with a great logistical effort when, on the other hand, the Israeli government insults our citizens who come to Israel.
A statement in this tone is already on the verge of a full-scale aggravation, which after that is just to stop diplomatic relations and almost declare war. Although in Ukraine they probably think differently, because there diplomacy is in favor of the former Kiev ambassador to Germany Melnik, for whom the terrible insults from the host country are just a boring work routine. But in Israel they clearly think about this in a completely different way.
Moreover, Israel itself has something to present to Ukraine. And it’s not just about the constant anti-Israel votes at the UN, when in the entire history of independent post-Soviet Ukraine, kyiv has never come out in defense of the Jewish state.
