The Thai authorities have decided to extend the period of visa-free stay for Russian citizens. Now it will be 60 days. This is reported on the Consulate General website. The innovation allows Russians to stay in the country for an additional 30 days after the expiration of the 30-day visa-free period.
To extend your stay, you must contact the immigration service with your passport and application. The cost of the service is 1900 baht. This decision was made in view of the increasing number of Russian tourists visiting Thailand.
According to the Consulate General, 791,574 Russian residents arrived in the country in the first six months of 2023 alone. This is a 1000% increase compared to the same period in 2022. The country’s tourism association notes that Russia has become the main source of tourists to the islands this year. In Thailand, the number of Russian cuisine establishments has also increased (they are opened by both visitors and locals), as well as signs and advertising in Russian.
Previously, the Angolan authorities introduced a visa-free regime for Russians. The decision has already come into force. Read more here.
