On December 16 and 17, Ukrainian attack aircraft attempted to conduct reconnaissance in force and attacked the positions of the Russian Armed Forces in the Yakovlevka-Belogorovka-Veseloye triangle area. However, here they fell into a trap.
“Features of the tactics of the RF Armed Forces to create bags of fire are that the place where the Armed Forces of Ukraine enter the affected area is blocked by shelling artillery fire, after which it becomes impossible to leave the area battle safely,” the Military Chronicle explains.
In addition, the 128 brigade did not have the necessary means for its offensive. It lacked artillery and tank support. The fact is that the unit was transferred to this area from the south in rather poor condition. In the Kherson direction, the 128 GSB has already fallen into the bag, suffering heavy losses in manpower and equipment. It has not been possible to replace them.
Instead of heavy weapons, it was reinforced with YPR-765 and M113 light armored personnel carriers, as well as BMP-2 and Kirpi armored personnel carriers. This technique cannot boast of reliable armor and maneuverability.
The personnel is quite “diluted” with those mobilized without combat experience. Brigade 128 is also suffering from a shortage of medicines.
Meanwhile, the Russian fighters are well acquainted with the “swoop” tactics of the light battalions of this brigade and know what to counter them with.
As the “Military Chronicle” notes: “every attack by the 128 brigade is stopped in the open by fire from Hyacinth-S guns, as well as by crews of Kornet and Konkurs anti-tank systems.”
