It’s time to take a picture again before the Treasury. The 2022 income and wealth campaign will start on April 11 and will run until June 30. The Tax Agency has released this Wednesday the taxpayer calendar for the year that has just begun. The presentation of personal income tax and wealth tax declarations will begin on April 11 online, while taxpayers who prefer to submit their settlement by phone will have to wait until May 5 and those who choose to present it in person will do so from May 1. of June

For all channels, the campaign will end on June 30, although taxpayers with declarations to enter who want to domicile the payment will have to deliver them before June 27. In the 2021 income campaign, a total of 22.1 million returns were filed (1.9% more than the previous year), of which the majority (13.9 million) were with refund requests.

The Treasury has returned 9,672 million from the 2021 campaign

The AEAT had returned a total of 9,672 million euros, 94.9% of what was requested in the previous campaign, that of 2021, until December 30 of last year. Thus, 13.5 million taxpayers had received their refund before the end of last year, 97.5% of those who had requested it.

Another 6.7 million statements were received, 10.5% more, for a total of 15,583 million, 28.9% more, while the rest were negative statements and others. The majority of taxpayers, 92% of the total, submitted their declaration electronically, a large part of them through the Agency’s website and the rest, 428,100, through the mobile application, 3.5% more. .

Telephone and face-to-face declarations increase

A total of 1.1 million taxpayers chose to submit their return by telephone, through the ‘We call you’ program, a figure 6.6% lower than that of the previous year, which was marked by the pandemic and the closure of offices. Conversely, the number of declarations filed in person at offices grew by 23.1%, to more than 649,000.

The Treasury highlights how the ‘We call you’ plan, a telephone assistance program to avoid taxpayers having to go to the offices, has established itself as the main non-face-to-face alternative to the Tax Agency website to file the declaration. During the last income campaign, 1,076,000 taxpayers used this route, 6.6% less than last year.

Despite the decrease, the declarations presented through said plan represent 62.4% of all those made with personalized assistance. For its part, the level of presentation of personal income tax returns in branches has increased significantly, with more than 649,000 returns, 23.1% more than the previous year.
