The 2nd International Documentary Film Festival “RT.Doc: The Time of Our Heroes” has ended in Dagestan – Rossiyskaya Gazeta

Date: October 16, 2024 Time: 14:29:53

“Thank you to all those who prepared this festival and, of course, to the guys who were on the screen and to all those who did not appear, who today are repelling the aggression against our territories, the Kursk and Belgorod regions,” said Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Republic of Dagestan Muslim Telyakavov.

“Dagestan has a very big heart. What we saw after watching the films, how people reacted, how they approached the heroes of the films, the authors, the directors, how they hugged them, how they took photos with them, is very valuable for us,” said Ekaterina Yakovleva, general producer of the festival “RT.Doc: Time of Our Heroes”.

The closing ceremony was accompanied by incessant applause. The guests of “RT.Doc: Time of Our Heroes” greeted the soldiers and relatives of those who gave their lives at the front with applause. Abidat Magomedova read a poem dedicated to her father, Arsen, who was awarded the Order of Courage (posthumously).

The audience could not hold back their tears during the speech of Sapizhat Mazaeva, the mother of the late Hero of Russia Nurmagomed Gadzhimagomedov. “Many thanks to the organizers of this festival “The Time of Our Heroes”, to all the authors and directors for the fact that, taking risks, they show what our guys are fighting for, what they are dying for,” Sapizhat shared. Her son is the first member of the Northern Military District to be awarded the title of Hero of the Russian Federation for his participation in the Northern Military District.

Rock band “Zveroboy” took to the stage with their top-notch songs.

The closing film of the festival was the film “Strength” by military correspondent, author of the RTD documentary channel Ruslan Gusarov and director of RTD Ekaterina Kitaytseva. The characters of the film consider the soldiers at the front as THEIR family. Thousands of people came together behind the lines to feed, warm, support those at the front and be with them. “Because together we are strong!” – they say.

For three days, the audience watched 15 films: the best Donbass films of recent years and films telling about the military events of 1999 in Dagestan. Among them were five premieres: “We will live!”, “Unconquered: Dagestan-99”, “Call Sign Tsar”, “Common Prayers”, “Recruiters: Puppets and Puppeteers”. There were also round tables, panel discussions, meetings with stars, soldiers, military personnel, authors and documentary characters.
