The aid to reduce the working day to four days already has a date

Date: May 28, 2023 Time: 21:57:21

The leader of Más País, Iñigo Errejón, has announced this Monday that the Government will publish in February the bases for the next aid that will be granted voluntarily to those companies that are committed to implementing the 4-day working day. This initiative has been promoted by Más País as one of its political priorities for the upcoming elections.

This is a policy included in the 2021 General State Budget, with an initial endowment of 10 million euros. Specifically, it is about aid of up to 150,000 euros for each SME that adopts this model, with the aim of benefiting between 60 and 70 companies. In this way, companies that opt for these direct subsidies must implement this type of working day for at least two years and may not reduce the salary of workers who take advantage of this four-day working day.

Errejón has recognized that this initiative has finally been processed in a “slower and less ambitious” way, but has described the aid as a first step, with an eye on Spain arriving sooner and not having to admire this four-day working day days in other countries.

The deputy has defended the four-day working day as a work model that is “more humanly, ecologically and economically sustainable”. “We are convinced that this is the future,” said Errejón, who sees how the proposal began as something out of “science fiction” and is gaining more and more recognition every time. And it is that, the deputy understands that the time that technology releases in the workplace has to be time that can be used “for life”.
