Until March 11, the ART4 Museum is hosting a new exhibition by Danila Polyakov called “Babets”. The project was implemented in conjunction with the textile company Alfa-Trade. He is a kind of caricature of a new type of person, endowed with exorbitant knowledge and the influence of modern technologies.
“It’s about my psyche and my beliefs. I am inspired by this. Go out, travel, don’t lock yourself in your phones”, urges the artist.
In 2021, Polyakov first visited the city of Ivanovo with the oldest textile factory, Krasnaya Talka, the Calico Museum and the Burylin Museum of Local History. He was impressed by the story of the famous manufacturer and philanthropist Dmitry Burylin and his collection of Egyptian art. A mixture of technological progress, industrial textiles and mummies became the starting point for the creation of the central sculpture of the project.
The exhibition will feature for the first time photographs from a new series created in collaboration with Dmitry Zhuravlev, a sculptural installation and video art. Alfa-Trade manufactured the fabrics for the project at the historic Ivanovo Krasnaya Talka factory.
