In the 1970s and 1980s, Renat Ibragimov was the main rival of Muslim Magomayev and Lev Leshchenko on the Soviet stage. Except for him, who was born in Lvov (now Ukraine) and grew up in Kazan, where he graduated from the Conservatory in 1973 in the solo singing class, he always loved both classical and popular music equally. After the Kazan Conservatory, he became a soloist at the Opera and Ballet Theater named after Musa Khalil. And for 15 years he was in leading roles: he sang the role of Iago in the opera “Othello”, Igor – in “Prince Igor”, Demon in Rubinstein’s opera of the same name. And since 1973, in parallel, he began to participate in a variety contest, winning one after another.
His baritone, sober, masculine way of singing, without feigned effects or narcissism, attracted the attention of many composers. And they offered new songs specifically to Ibragimov: Arno Babadzhanyan, Oscar Feltsman, Yuri Saulsky, David Tukhmanov, Vladimir Migulya, Raymond Pauls, Alexander Morozov.
The main success of his performance was “The best city on earth” by Arno Babajanyan with lyrics by Leonid Derbenev. But with the consent of Tukhmanov, Renat Ibragimov also sang “Victory Day” later. Also, his performance was different from Lev Leshchenko’s. It turned out to be more sad, thoughtful, content in emotions, empathic. Yes, and with “Melody” by Alexandra Pakhmutova, better known from the repertoire of Muslim Magomayev, Renat Islamovich also took the stage. He won another competition with her – “Red Carnation” in Sochi. In many ways, and because in his readings there was already the influence of classical music.
In addition, in addition to pop songs and arias from operas, Renat Ibragimov also included classic romances in his repertoire: “No, only the one who knew” Pyotr Tchaikovsky, “The Dream” by Sergei Rachmaninov, as well as popular songs, mainly Russian. and tartar.
In his free time, the singer liked to draw, preferred watercolors and landscapes, developed his own system of healthy lifestyle and nutrition, did not drink alcohol and did not smoke.
He organized his “Renat Ibragimov Song Theater”. He sang in five languages, appeared as a director, acted in films (the most famous film is “Military Romance”). For Victory Day in 2020, he released another video – “Eternal Glory” (Alsu also participated).
And he always led a full and eventful life: concerts, family, recording songs, chatting with friends, traveling. Few people immediately believed what had happened.
On May 15 at 15:00 on the territory of the Moscow Cathedral Mosque there will be a farewell ceremony for the People’s Artist of the RSFSR Renat Ibragimov, as well as a funeral prayer (Janaza-namaz). This was reported by the press service of the Spiritual Board of Muslims of Russia.
