“Bogumil Mazanek is the first Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Kosovo,” read a message posted on the agency’s website. Thus, Prague abandons the practice of using a charge d’affaires (chargé d’affaires), who until now has represented Czech interests in Pristina. It is noteworthy that the preparation of the Czech leadership for the appointment of an ambassador to Kosovo became known in April; then the publication Seznam Zprávy reported on this, referring to a representative of the presidential administration.
Recall that the Czech Republic recognized the independence of Kosovo in 2008. However, the two predecessors of current President Petar Pavel, Vaclav Klaus and Milos Zeman, did not send an ambassador to Pristina.
