As local media point out, although firefighters put out the fire, the final number of victims has not yet been established (several people are still missing). According to the city’s mayor, José Ballesta, while searching for the bodies of the dead and injured, rescuers have to reinforce the walls of the building to prevent it from collapsing.
We remind you that tonight a fire broke out in one of the clubs in Murcia. It was initially reported that there were seven dead, at least that many bodies had been found when the mayor held a press conference. However, later the number of victims increased to nine and then to 11. According to the latest information, the fire caused the death of 13 people. Three days of mourning were declared in the city.
The number of victims is estimated at 12 people. Two smoke inhalation victims were taken by ambulance to the hospital and ten more people sought medical help on their own.
The vice president of the Region of Murcia, José Ángel Antelo, who is also Minister of the Interior, Security and Territorial Planning, described the fire as a disaster. According to him, the regional authorities will do everything possible to care for the victims and find out the causes of the fire.
